Lefteye flounders [Bothidae]
Description
Bothidae, or lefteye flounders, are characterized by their unique body structure, with both eyes located on the left side of their body. Contrary to the Pleuronectidae, most members of this family rest on their right side. These flatfish are found in tropical and subtropical seas worldwide. They are benthic, living near or on the bottom, and they exhibit remarkable coloration changes to match their surroundings.
