Monolene [Monolene]
Description
Monolene is a genus of deep-sea lefteye flounders found primarily in the western Atlantic Ocean. These species have adapted to life on the continental slope, residing at depths where sunlight is scarce. They possess a flattened body and a large, upward-facing mouth, features that aid in their bottom-dwelling lifestyle. Monolene species feed on small fish and invertebrates that they encounter on the ocean floor.
