Sand flounders [Paralichthyidae]
Description
Paralichthyidae, or sand flounders, is a family of flatfish found in both temperate and tropical waters around the world. These fish are known for their ability to blend into sandy environments, where they hunt for small fish and invertebrates. Sand flounders have eyes on the right side of their body, but they are unique in that their eyes can be very elevated, providing a wide field of vision while buried.
