Slipper Limpets [Crepidula]
Description
Crepidula is a genus of sea snails, marine gastropod mollusks in the family Calyptraeidae. They are commonly known as slipper limpets due to their distinctive slipper-shaped shell. These limpets are sequential hermaphrodites, beginning life as males and transitioning to females as they grow. They often live in stacks on top of each other, and are found attached to rocks, shells, or other hard substrates in shallow waters. Their diet mainly consists of plankton, which they filter from the water.
