Sand Anemones [Anemonia]

Description

Anemonia is a genus of sea anemones known as sand anemones or snakelocks anemones. Members of this genus are characterized by their long, slender tentacles and ability to burrow into sandy or muddy substrates, leaving only their tentacles exposed to capture passing prey. They exhibit a variety of colors and are often found in shallow waters, contributing to the complexity of sandy bottom ecosystems. Their venomous tentacles not only capture prey but also serve as a deterrent against predators.
