Thick-billed Murre [Uria lomvia]
Description
The Thick-billed Murre, also known as the BrĂ¼nnich's guillemot, is a species of bird in the Auk family. It is characterized by its black upperparts, white underparts, and a thin white line on the wings visible in flight. The species has a circumpolar distribution, found in low-Arctic and boreal waters in the North Atlantic and North Pacific. It spends most of its time at sea, only coming to land to breed on rocky cliff shores or islands. It is a skilled diver, capable of reaching depths of up to 150 meters in pursuit of prey such as fish and invertebrates.
