Summer Flounder [Paralichthys dentatus]
Description
The Summer Flounder, also known as fluke, is native to the Atlantic coast of the United States and Canada. This species inhabits the ocean floor in depths up to 500 feet, but is also commonly found in coastal and estuarine areas. Summer Flounder are ambush predators, feeding on fish and invertebrates. They are characterized by their flat bodies, both eyes on one side of their head, and a large mouth with sharp teeth.
