Spotted Flathead [Onigocia macrolepis]
Description
The Spotted Flathead or Onigocia macrolepis is another member of the Platycephalidae family. They are native to the Western Central Pacific, in areas from southern Japan to the South China Sea. They are typically found in sandy or muddy sea bottoms, in depths ranging from 20 to 100 meters. Characterized by their large, rough scales and numerous dark spots scattered across their bodies, they tend to be nocturnal predators, feeding on smaller fishes and invertebrates.
