Spiny Cockle [Acanthocardia spinosa]

Description
The Spiny Cockle is another species of saltwater clam in the family Cardiidae. This species is endemic to the Mediterranean Sea. The shell is globular, with high, wide ribs covered with large, hooked spines. The coloration of the shell varies from light yellow to light brown. It lives buried in sandy or muddy bottoms, from the intertidal zone to a depth of about 100 meters.
