Orinoco Crocodile [Crocodylus intermedius]

Description

The Orinoco Crocodile is a critically endangered crocodile. Its population is very small and it can only be found in freshwater environments in Colombia and Venezuela, in particular in the Orinoco River and its tributaries. It is one of the largest crocodile species, with males reaching lengths of up to 6.2 meters. This species is characterized by a relatively broad snout and has a lighter coloration than many other crocodiles. They feed primarily on fish, but they can take larger prey, such as small mammals, if the opportunity arises.
