Description
This species is found in the Indo-Pacific region, specifically from the Red Sea to Samoa and Tonga. They inhabit coral reefs and lagoons. The Blue Squamosa Clam has a large, heavy shell with scaly or fluted edges, hence the name. Its color can be blue, green, or brown, and it has distinctive patterns. These clams are filter feeders, and they also host zooxanthellae, a type of algae, in their tissues.
