American Sea Mat [Epizoanthus americanus]
Description
Epizoanthus americanus, or the American Sea Mat, is a species of marine zoanthid in the family Epizoanthidae. It is found in the Atlantic Ocean along the coasts of North America, from the Gulf of Maine to the Gulf of Mexico. It prefers hard substrates, such as rocks and shells, and forms encrusting colonies. Known for its vibrant coloration, this species displays a variety of hues from pink to yellow to green.
