Banded cutthroat eel [Dysommina rugosa]
Description
Dysommina rugosa, the banded cutthroat eel, is a species found in the Atlantic, Indian, and Pacific Oceans. This species usually resides at depths between 400 and 700 meters but has been found at depths up to 3000 meters. Its body is cylindrical and can reach up to 50 cm in length. The species is named for the dark bands that are present across its body.
