Description
Modiolus adriaticus, or the southern horse mussel, is a marine bivalve mollusc in the family Mytilidae. This species is found in the Mediterranean Sea and eastern Atlantic Ocean. They typically inhabit deep waters and possess a brownish shell with a more elongated shape compared to other species in the same genus.
