Chilean mussel [Mytilus chilensis]

Description
The Chilean mussel is a species of bivalve native to the coasts of Chile and Argentina. It is a filter feeder, and is also farmed for human consumption. Its shell is dark blue to black, with a distinctive purplish hue.
