Description

The Lagoon Cockle is a medium-sized bivalve species. It is distributed in the eastern Atlantic Ocean from Scotland to Mauritania, including the Mediterranean Sea and the Black Sea. It inhabits sandy and muddy bottoms in marine and brackish waters. The shell of the Lagoon Cockle is rounded, with a slightly pointed anterior end. It is light brown or gray with purple or brown radial streaks.
