Peachia [Peachia]
Description
Peachia is unique among the Cerianthidae for its life cycle and feeding habits, including a phase where the juvenile anemones are parasitic on certain jellyfish species. As adults, they construct tubes in the sea floor where they hide during the day, emerging at night to feed. Peachia anemones have a distinctive set of long, slender tentacles used for capturing prey, and they are known for their ability to inflict a painful sting to deter predators.
