Neolobonema [Neolobonema]
Description
Neolobonema is a genus within the Lobonemidae family, distinguished from its relatives by subtle morphological differences, particularly in the structure of its lobes and the arrangement of its nematocysts. Like other members of its family, Neolobonema jellyfish possess a characteristic lobed bell, but these are often more pronounced and may feature unique patterns or colorations not typically observed in other genera. These jellyfish inhabit open waters and are adapted to a pelagic lifestyle, drifting with ocean currents while they feed on smaller marine organisms. Neolobonema species are less well-known compared to their Lobonema counterparts, with research still uncovering the full extent of their distribution and ecological roles.
