Lobed Jellyfish [Lobonemidae]
Description
Lobonemidae, known as Lobed Jellyfish, includes species characterized by their distinct lobed bell margins, giving them a somewhat frilly appearance. These jellyfish have multiple long, slender oral arms that can extend several times the length of their bell. Unlike many other jellyfish, they do not possess stinging tentacles but capture their prey through the use of sticky cells on their oral arms. The Lobed Jellyfish are predominantly found in the open waters of the tropical and subtropical oceans. Their unique morphology and feeding habits make them a subject of interest in the study of jellyfish diversity and ecology.
