Laevicardium [Laevicardium]

Description
Laevicardium, also known as the smooth clams, is a genus within the family Laevicardiinae. These bivalves are distinguished by their smooth, ovate shells that can vary widely in coloration, including shades of white, yellow, and brown. Laevicardium species are found in a range of marine environments from shallow waters to deeper offshore areas. They bury themselves in sandy or muddy substrates, extending a siphon to the surface for feeding on suspended organic particles. The smooth texture of their shells differentiates them from other clams with more sculptured shells.
