Hermissenda [Hermissenda]
Description
Hermissenda is a genus of nudibranchs, sea slugs known for their bright colors and striking forms. Members of this genus are found in both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. They are characterized by their elongated bodies, often adorned with cerata (finger-like extensions) that can be vividly colored. These nudibranchs are known to feed on hydroids, bryozoans, and other small sessile organisms. Hermissenda species are also studied for their neurobiological properties, as they exhibit interesting behaviors and neural mechanisms.
