Blue Ling [Molva]
Description
Molva is a genus of marine fish in the family Lotidae, known for species such as the blue ling (Molva dypterygia) and the ling (Molva molva). These fish are found in the North Atlantic and adjacent waters of the Arctic Ocean. They are characterized by their elongated bodies, single long dorsal and anal fins, and a small barbel on the chin. Molva species are important commercially, particularly in Northern Europe, for their meat, which is considered tasty and nutritious. They typically inhabit deep, cold waters, with some species found at depths exceeding 1000 meters. Their diet consists mainly of fish, crustaceans, and cephalopods.
