Description

Lepidion is a genus of morid cods known as Beardfish, distinguished by their elongated bodies, large mouths, and the presence of a 'beard' - a small barbel on the chin. These deep-sea fish are found in the Atlantic, Indian, and Pacific Oceans, where they inhabit mid to deep water slopes and feed on a variety of smaller fish and invertebrates.
