Turbots [Scophthalmidae]

Description

The Scophthalmidae family, commonly referred to as turbots, includes several species known for their commercial value. These flatfish are predominantly found in the northeastern Atlantic and the Mediterranean Sea. Turbots have a nearly circular body, and unlike many other flatfish, they can have eyes on either their right or left side, depending on the species. They inhabit sandy or muddy sea floors and are adept at camouflaging to catch their prey.
