Physophoridae [Physophoridae]
Description
Physophoridae members are distinguishable by their elongated, transparent bodies and a series of gas-filled floats which aid in buoyancy. They inhabit open waters and are known for their delicate, thread-like tentacles used for feeding. Species within this family, such as the genus Physophora, are adept at vertical migration, moving up and down the water column in response to prey availability and environmental conditions.
