Nebaliidae [Nebaliidae]

Description

Nebaliidae is a family of leptostracan crustaceans that are characterized by their transparent bodies and are often found in shallow marine waters. Members of this family, such as the genus Nebalia, have a distinctive body structure with a large bivalve carapace that encloses most of their thorax, and their long, slender abdomen extends out from underneath. They possess compound eyes on stalks and have eight pairs of thoracic limbs. Nebaliidae species are scavengers, feeding on detritus and small organisms on the seafloor.
