Nebalia [Nebalia]
Description
Nebalia is a genus of leptostracan crustaceans. Members of this genus are small, usually less than 10 mm in length, and are characterized by their bivalve carapace which partially encloses the thorax. They have a distinct head with compound eyes and antennae. The body consists of eight thoracic segments and a well-developed abdomen ending in a furca. These marine crustaceans are found in a range of habitats from shallow to deep sea, often among seaweeds and seagrass.
