Description

Magelonidae, commonly known as shovelhead worms, are a family of polychaete worms characterized by their unique shovel-shaped prostomium which aids in their burrowing lifestyle. These worms are predominantly found in sandy marine sediments where they lead a sedentary life, feeding on microorganisms and detritus. The body is elongated, with numerous segments and a pair of long palps that are used for feeding.
