Whitefin Wolf Herring [Chirocentrus nudus]
Description
Whitefin Wolf Herring is a species of fish in the herring family, Chirocentridae. Similar to the Wolf Herring, it has sharp, elongated teeth and lacks a dorsal fin. However, it can be distinguished by its smaller size (usually less than 60 cm in length) and the white tip on its lower caudal fin. Whitefin Wolf Herring inhabits coastal and estuarine waters in the Western Pacific, from the Gulf of Thailand to Northern Australia. It feeds primarily on small crustaceans and fish.
