Thorny searobin [Chiridius thoracicus]

Description
The Thorny searobin is characterized by its distinct spiny thorax and is found in the Western Central Pacific. It prefers sandy or muddy bottoms in shallow to moderately deep waters. This species has a large, bony head with a mouth that can be extended to capture prey. The body coloration varies from pale to dark brown.
