Description
The Spinner Sea Spider, scientifically known as Bathydorus spinosus, is a deep-sea species that inhabits the Atlantic, Indian, and Southern Oceans. This species is distinguished by its long, spiny legs that it uses to navigate across the sea bed. Its body size is relatively small compared to its legs, which can span up to 70 cm. It feeds mostly on small invertebrates and detritus, capturing prey with its chelicerae. It is adapted to extreme conditions with high pressure, low temperature, and minimal light.
