Description
The Spiked Horseshoe Crab, known scientifically as Echinophoria coronata, is a unique species inhabiting the waters around Japan and Taiwan. It is easily recognized by its horseshoe-shaped carapace covered in numerous sharp spines. The Spiked Horseshoe Crab is a scavenger, feeding on dead and decaying organic matter on the seafloor. It is most commonly found in sandy or muddy habitats, from the intertidal zone to depths of 30 meters.
