Southern Tubeworm [Ficopomatus uschakovi]

Description
The Southern Tubeworm, or Ficopomatus uschakovi, is a sedentary marine annelid that creates calcareous tubes in intertidal and subtidal zones. It is a filter feeder, trapping food particles with its crown of tentacles. This species is predominantly found in the Southern Hemisphere, but has also been identified in Northern Hemisphere locations. Its tube structures often form dense masses providing habitat for a range of other species.
