Southern lightfish [Ichthyococcus australis]
Description
The Southern lightfish or Ichthyococcus australis is a species found in the Southern Hemisphere, particularly in the Atlantic and Indian Oceans. Like other lightfish, they have bioluminescent organs and are found in deep, cold waters. They can grow up to 10 cm long and feed primarily on zooplankton.
