Sloane's viperfish [Chauliodus sloani]

Description

Sloane's viperfish is a deep-sea fish recognized for its large mouth and long, needle-like teeth. It can reach up to 35 cm in size, but is usually found to be 28 cm. The first dorsal fin is modified to act as a fishing rod with a bioluminescent photophore used to lure in prey. This species is found in tropical and temperate parts of all oceans at depths ranging from 500 to 2500 meters.
