Siberian Sturgeon [Acipenser baerii]
Description
The Siberian Sturgeon, Acipenser baerii, is a species of sturgeon in the Acipenseridae family. They are typically found in all types of freshwater environments in Siberia, from the Ob to the Kolyma rivers, and in the rivers of Lake Baikal. They have a long, spindle-like body that's covered in a armour of bony plates, with a pointed snout and barbels nearer to the mouth. This species is known for its salt-tolerant characteristics and is the source of a highly prized form of caviar.
