Description
The Shortnose Skate, also known as Rioraja agassizii, is a species of fish in the family Rajidae. It can be found in the southwestern Atlantic Ocean, particularly the coastal waters of Argentina and Brazil. They are demersal in nature and prefer sandy or muddy substrates. They are oviparous and lay eggs in horny cases. The species is characterized by its short snout and the presence of a row of thorns along the midline of the body and tail.
