Regal Angelfish [Pygoplites diacanthus]
Description
The Regal Angelfish is a species of marine angelfish. It is a small sized fish which grows up to 25 cm. It is a well-known species, noted for its striking beauty and the bold markings of its sex. It primarily inhabits coral reefs in both the Pacific and Indian oceans, from the Red Sea to Australia and the Tuamotu Archipelago. The Regal Angelfish has a unique color pattern; a royal blue body, yellow tail, and its 'trademark' white vertical bars. Its diet mainly consists of sponges and tunicates.
