Description

Pygoplites is a monotypic genus represented by the Regal Angelfish, Pygoplites diacanthus. This species is renowned for its striking beauty, characterized by alternating yellow and blue stripes across its body and fins. Found throughout the Indo-Pacific and parts of the Red Sea, the Regal Angelfish inhabits coral reefs, feeding on sponges, algae, and small invertebrates. Despite its popularity in the aquarium trade, its specific dietary requirements make it a challenging species to maintain.
