Rattail Fish [Coryphaenoides mediterraneus]
Description
Rattail fish, also known as the Mediterranean grenadier, inhabits the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. This deep-sea species lives at depths ranging from 400 to 4,000 meters. It has a long, tapering tail, hence its name. The body is covered with small, smooth scales. It feeds on small fish and crustaceans. It can grow up to 70 cm in length.
