Pacific Thread Herring [Opisthonema libertate]
Description
This species is found in the eastern Pacific from southern Baja California, Mexico and the Gulf of California to Peru, including the Galapagos Islands. It lives in coastal waters and estuaries, often forming large schools. The Pacific Thread Herring is a small fish with a slender body, reaching a maximum length of about 37 cm. It feeds on plankton and small fishes.
