Network pipefish [Corythoichthys flavofasciatus]
Description
The Network pipefish, or Corythoichthys flavofasciatus, is a marine fish widespread in the tropical Indo-Pacific area from the eastern coast of Africa to the oceanic islands of the central Pacific. They inhabit lagoons and outer reef slopes, often hiding in gorgonians. They are recognized by their thin, elongated bodies, a long, tube-like snout, and a complex pattern of thin blue lines over a yellowish background color. In terms of reproductive behavior, males carry the eggs in a brood pouch until they hatch.
