Seahorses and Pipefishes [Syngnathidae]

Description

The Syngnathidae family includes a variety of species known for their elongated bodies surrounded by bony rings. Members of this family, such as seahorses and pipefish, are characterized by their tube-like snouts which they use to suck in prey. Most species show some form of parental care, with unique reproductive habits such as the males carrying eggs in a brood pouch. They are found in marine and freshwater environments across the world, often in seagrass beds or coral reefs.
