Macaroni Penguin [Eudyptes chrysolophus]
Description
Named after its distinctive yellow and black crest, the macaroni penguin is the most numerous of all penguin species. They are about 28 inches tall and have a solid, thick beak. They are native to the subantarctic to the Antarctic Peninsula. Macaroni penguins are very social and form large breeding colonies. Their diet is mainly krill, but they also eat small fish and squid.
