Leafscale Gulper Shark [Centrophorus squamosus]

Description

The Leafscale Gulper Shark is found in the Atlantic, Indian, and Pacific Oceans. It lives at depths between 230 and 1,290 meters. It has two dorsal fins with spines, a rounded snout, and its body is covered with denticles that resemble leaf scales. The species is vulnerable due to deepwater fishing activities.
