Largetooth Sawfish [Pristis pristis]

Description

The Largetooth Sawfish, also known as the Common Sawfish, is a species of ray with a long, narrow, flattened rostrum, or nose extension, lined with sharp transverse teeth, arranged in a way to resemble a saw. It is one of the largest fish with some individuals known to reach lengths of up to 6.5 m. It is found worldwide in tropical and subtropical regions in coastal marine and estuarine, as well as freshwater habitats. Largetooth Sawfish are slow-moving and they feed on fish and invertebrates by swinging their 'saw' from side to side to stun prey.
