Kitefin shark [Dalatias licha]
Description
The Kitefin shark is a species of dogfish shark in the family Dalatiidae and the only species in its genus. It is found worldwide in temperate and tropical seas. Most commonly found at depths of 200–600 m, it has been recorded as deep as 1,800 m. The kitefin shark has a broad, flattened head and a short snout, with large, green eyes. This shark can grow up to 120 cm in length. It is a slow swimmer which feeds on bony fishes, crustaceans, and squid.
