Haddock [Melanogrammus aeglefinus]
Description
The Haddock is a saltwater fish, found in the North Atlantic Ocean and associated seas. It is distinguishable by a black lateral line, a dark blotch above the pectoral fin, and a relatively small mouth and sharp nose. Haddock are carnivorous, feeding primarily on small invertebrates and fish. This species usually prefers depths of 40 to 133 meters, but can be found both closer to the surface and as deep as 300 meters.
