Guitarfish [Guitarras rhinobatos]

Guitarfish
Description

Guitarfishes, also known as Guitarras rhinobatos, are characterized by a body that appears to be a cross between a ray and a shark. The front part of their body is broad and flat, while the rear part is slender and looks like a shark. They have two dorsal fins and a tail fin, and their eyes and spiracles are located on the upper side of their body. Guitarfishes primarily inhabit the sandy or muddy bottom of continental shelves and are found in tropical and warm temperate oceans worldwide. They feed on invertebrates and small fishes.
