Grey-faced Petrel [Pterodroma macroptera]
Description
The Grey-faced Petrel (Pterodroma macroptera) is a seabird species belonging to the Procellariidae family. It is a medium-large petrel with a wing span of 110-120 cm. Its plumage is mostly dark grey-brown, with a paler grey forehead and throat, and a dark 'M' shape across the upper wings. The species is known to breed on islands in the South Pacific and Southern Oceans, typically in burrows which they visit nocturnally. They are pelagic, spending most of their life at sea, feeding predominantly on squid and fish.
